GUAM JULY 2025

The Brantley's Journey To Service

We have been so blessed our first month home. Quick recap, we started our furlough in Texas. Had a great visit with First Christian Church in Port Arthur. Then we had a visit with two of Schuyler's cousins he hadn't seen since he was a child.
Next was a quick trip to Arkansas to Chastain Chapel. (Don't worry Arkansas, we will be back)
Then off to Oklahoma where we visited with Blue Springs GB, Etta GB, Dry Creek Gb and Welling GB. Welling GB was so gracious to host us in their fellowship hall for the week.
While in Oklahoma we attended Allie's basic training graduation. We got to spend time with both of our children, Schuyler's dad and one of Schuyler's brothers.
The last week of May saw us back in Arkansas at Diamond City 1st Baptist Church visiting dear friends that have the biggest heart for missions. We then traveled on to Poplar Bluff to take care of some business.
The last couple of days in May we visited friends and family in Kentucky before heading to Michigan.
And that was May 8-May 31st!
June was a very fruitful month for the ministry as well. We visited many of our outer lying GB churches. We began in Michigan visiting with Portage Road GB, South Side GB, Victory Chapel, Riverview, First GB Osceola, New Beginnings GB, Hillside, Liberty Hills, Fellowship, Free Unity, United Faith, Watham, Lacota GB, and Waterford GB. We then headed down to West Virginia where we have two independent churches that support the mission in Guam. Mile Fork and Mountain Heights have faithfully been supporting our call for the past 4 years. Mid-June found us in Florida at All Nations GB. We were hosted by a wonderful couple from the church. They spoiled us with wonderful Filipino food while we were there. From there, we headed up to Gann Community Church and Belews Chapel in Tennessee. The last week of June we were in Kentucky where we visited Liberty United, Cool Springs, Luzerne GB, Salmons GB, Cave Springs GB (our home church), Cedar Grove Church, and Pleasant Grove GB. Oh, and we don't want to forget Clinton 1st GB, Pine Mountain, Mt Zion, Antioch, Pleasant Hill, Pleasant Valley and Sunny Side GB in Arkansas! (I told you we would be back Arkansas) And that is a wrap for June!

We are excited to announce that a parsonage is being built for Agat Community Church. This has been made possible, unfortunately, due to another church closing on the island. Talafofo Baptist Church was one of the original GB churches on Guam. Low attendance following Covid and damage sustained from Typhoon Mawar in 2023 led to the church closing officially in 2024. After evaluation was done, the decision was made to sell the church and property. An interested contractor proposed a deed transfer in lieu of building a new house for Agat Community Church. The terms were worked out and accepted. We are anticipating the house to be completed by the end of 2025.
While in, we have presented the need for funds for solar panels that will be placed on the roof of the parsonage and power both the parsonage AND the church. All of the churches have been so generous thus far. We are over halfway to our goal of raising $70,000.
If you or your church would like to donate to this cause, donations can be made through General Baptist Global Missions. Please include "Brantley Projects" in the memo section of your check. Thank you all so much.

Your Missionaries

It's official! We are your missionaries to Guam for another four years. Today we signed contracts for a second term in Guam. We are honored to be your misisonaries to Guam.
Furlough looks different this year, not just because we don't have our children with us, but also because Schuyler is able to be here the whole three months. This is only possible because of the wonderful people in attendance at Agat Community Church. They have stepped in and stepped up over this past year. We have two gentlemen, Charles (pictured above) and Richard that have been covering the preaching on Sundays and the teaching on Sunday nights in our absence. Another couple has been teaching Sunday School. All of the services have continued in our absence! We praise the Lord for the souls He has sent to Agat Community Church. We have faith that through our obedience and His guidance, more souls will come to know the Good News through the ministry in Guam.

The Summit 2025

We were recently asked to share what The Summit meant to us. Where to start. The Summit has been such a memorable event for us over the past 10+ years. In the beginning, Summit was a place for us to come together with like-minded people to study, learn, praise and worship. The children's programming was amazing for our two children. It was so nice to be able to focus on what God had for us to learn without having to worry about the children. We knew they were also learning about God in their sessions. Being at the Summit allowed us to glean from those who had been in ministry in many different locations. Finding out what works and what doesn't so that we were not reinventing the wheel. We were able to take this knowledge back to our home church and implement ideas and tasks that we had learned at Summit. We also had the opportunity to bring several of our youth to Summit. This led to a couple attending Okland City University.

Over the years, because of Summit, we were able to hear and learn from many renowned authors and speakers that we would not have had the chance to see otherwise. To be able to glean knowledge from them was priceless. Also, being able to be a delegate for our church and learning the behind-the-scenes, innerworkings of the denomination and everything that is being done around the world was very eye-opening. Hearing from the president of the denomination each year about the direction and vision of the denomination is also very encouraging for us as a pastoral family.

Over time, the Summit became much more for us. In 2016, it became the place that Schuyler would surrender to the call to ministry. It became a place to learn how to grow a small country church. It became a place of encouragement and strength and family. A family we would soon lean on and depend on. In 2017, through interactions at the Summit, I realized we were being led to missions. We continued attending the Summit each year, expanding our GB family connections. We made invaluable connections with previous missionaries. After doing a site visit and being commissioned as missionaries for GB, we look forward to the Summit as a way to share what God is doing in the mission field with the most people in one area as possible.

Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Monterey, California

She did it!! She graduated!! We are so happy for her. She also made honor graduate and got promoted to E-3 (PFC). She had an amazing experience at Fort Sill and is now in Monterey, California at language school. She is studying Russian. Classes last 48 weeks. We are praying that she will be able to take leave for Christmas.  Before she started classes, she was able to take in some of the sights of Monterey to include Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and do some scuba diving. The next year will be a tough one, please continue to pray for her. As soon as we get an address for her, we will pass it along.

Jeremiah Update

Jeremiah was able to fly home for Allie's graduation from basic training and to spend a little time with family. He is adjusting to being on his own and being an adult. Life is a little more challenging at times than he thought it would be. But he is doing an amazing job navigating life on his own in Pohnpei.

After returning back to Pohnpei, he shared with us that he was able to fly to Ta to pick up a lady who needed medical treatment. He flew her back to Pohnpei where medical personnel met him and took her by ambulance to the hospital. Notice the condition of the ambulance she is riding in. Please be in prayer for the people of the Micronesian Islands.

I know this newsletter came out a bit late and looked a bit different. Thank you for your patience and understanding. As we wrap up our time here on furlough, we will probably have one more newsletter to come out with more information on our travels than information on Guam. We do want to take this time to thank everyone for their love and support over the past two months. Those who have been gracious enough to host us at their home or church or to cover the cost of lodging. You don't know how much that means to us and thank you doesn't seem to be enough.

We are so thankful to all who have continued to support us on this journey through deputation support, project funds or prayer support. We would not be able to do any of the work that has been done here without God blessing the work and people being willing to support and send us. We pray daily that we are constantly found doing God's will.

Please follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram. We love staying in touch with you all. If you have any prayer requests, please let us know. We would be honored to pray with you and for you.

Thank you again for your kind and loving support.

Thank you and God Bless,

Cathy, Schuyler, Jeremiah and Allie Brantley
